THE WATERFRONT

HOLDER MATHIAS ARCHITECTS

While employed at Holder Mathias Architects as an Architectural Assistant, I followed the 'Waterfront' project from concept generation to the planning stage. The Restaurant is an interlocking combination of a site determined ground floor volume and a curvaceous cantilevered first floor. Stilts place the restaurant a comfortable distance above the changing water level of the marina. The arrangement of volumes has allowed for intimate southwest facing tables and forced perspective views from the access bridge to the nose of the building. The visitor’s journey through the building is legible and intuitive. The marina is dotted with sailing ships and the canopy detailing and general form compliment the eclectic mix of colours and shapes in the Marina.
