STORYTELLING

COLLECTIVE DWELLING

This project focuses on a collection of maisonettes formed of two components: a rectangular box divided into vertical ‘L’ shape volumes and a secondary parabolic timber frame that overlaps it. The ‘box’ has a primarily concrete envelope with exception to the glass, view facing curtain wall, and window openings in the opposite facade. The timber canopy is divided in symmetrical, yet flexible increments that reveal more of the buildings less private spaces and less of the buildings most private areas. Openings in the rear, courtyard-facing elevation have more controlled views within the maisonettes. These allow for building to host a narrative that reflects the story and emotion of its occupants, a story that can be glimpsed by the public.
